Reopening FAQ

Yes. For the safety of our guests, employees and communities, Cinemark will require that face masks be worn throughout our theatres. Masks may be removed when eating and drinking inside the auditorium.

We’ll begin thoughtfully and safely opening theatres in phases, beginning June 19, in accordance with local and/or government guidelines and with advice from the medical and health community. Click here to see a full list of locations and their expected opening dates.

The health and safety of our guests, our employees and our communities is a top priority. We are evolving how we operate, with greatly enhanced cleanliness and safety measures at every step of the movie-going experience. For a list of the many ways we’re protecting you and setting The Cinemark Standard, click here.

We frequently sanitize all high-touch and concession areas and restrooms using products identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19. All occupied auditorium seats are thoroughly sanitized before the next showtime, as well as adjacent seats, handrails and children’s booster seats. Auditoriums are also regularly disinfected using pressurized sprayer equipment to reach all seats, handrails, armrests, tables, footrests and cup holders. This fast-drying and non-toxic method allows us to thoroughly and evenly apply products identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19.

We take the safety of our employees & guests very seriously. Our fast-drying and non-toxic disinfectant is safe for humans and has been identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19. We closely follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, including requiring gloves and goggles for employees who are applying the product. Employee masks are also used as an extra Cinemark precaution.

Yes, our fast-drying and non-toxic disinfectant is safe for humans, does not damage clothing or seating, and has been identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19. To see our full list of enhanced cleaning protocols, click here.

All restrooms are extensively disinfected every morning and sanitized every 30 minutes during operating hours using products identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19. For a more detailed list of cleaning procedures, please click here.

Absolutely! At our theatre locations with reserved seating, when you purchase tickets we will automatically block the seats adjacent to you party. To allow for more space, auditoriums will also have reduced capacities and staggered showtimes.

For all theatre employees, temp checks will be mandatory during their “first 5 minutes” wellness check-in prior to each shift. Any employee who has a fever or is feeling ill will not be permitted to work the shift. For guests, Cinemark is following the guidelines of state and/or local authorities with regards to temperature checks.

Our restaurants and bars will re-open when we are certain all necessary protocols are in place and also in accordance with local guidelines, which means some dining options inside your theatre will likely not be open right away. In the meantime, limited menus may be offered temporarily at some locations, including beer, wine & frozen cocktails. For more information on our food safety standards, click here.

Yes, currently open restaurants will have QR codes that can be scanned from your phone’s camera to launch a digital menu.

Small group screening packages are currently available for Comeback Classics movies during the month of July (restrictions apply). All other Private Events will be available beginning July 30 with limited-time special pricing. Events will be limited to 50% capacity (or in accordance with state and/or local guidelines) through September 30, 2020; allowing ample seating for physical distancing purposes. For more information on Private Events, click here.

Unfortunately, our Summer Movie Clubhouse has been cancelled this year. However, our Comeback Classics movies will feature several kid-friendly films and tickets are only $5 for adults. Learn more about Comeback Classics.

Your benefits will be automatically reinstated when your local theatre has reopened, so you’re able to enjoy the perks of being a Movie Club member as soon as you’re ready to come back to the movies.

But don’t worry! You won’t be charged for your Movie Club account until your regular billing date in November OR the month after theatres in your area have reopened-whichever is later. A new movie credit will be issued to your account at that time. You can log in and visit Cinemark.com/movie-rewards to see your next billing date at any time.

We’ll also be sending emails with more information about your theatre opening, your next billing date, and more account info during our re-opening. Make sure you’re subscribed to our emails so you don’t miss out!

Yes! Your 20% off snacks benefit will stack on top of the already discounted food and drink offerings during our reopening celebrations. We know it’s been a while since you were able to have our popcorn, and hope this makes it a little easier to enjoy!

Unfortunately, we have halted all drink and popcorn refills to limit contact points. The prices for our large refillable sizes have been reduced in order to compensate for the inconvenience.

To limit contact points, we are no longer able to accept annual refillable cups and popcorn tubs. However, if you purchased our 2020 refillable cup or tub, we will happily honor your discount and provide an equivalent single-use container. Each time you come to Cinemark, please bring your refillable cup and/or tub and show them at the concession stand to receive your discount.

To make up for the time we were temporarily closed this year, we are extending the valid dates of your discount through March 31, 2021.

Any unused credits on an active or paused Movie Club membership continued to roll over and will be available to use as soon as theatres re-open.

If your membership was canceled prior to or during our theatre closures, we’ve extended the expiration date for all unused credits by the amount of time our locations are closed in order to allow you to have the full amount of time to enjoy your credits.

If you joined using a multi-month gift promo code, we have continued to issue new movie credits to you each month while theatres were closed. Our credits never expire as long as you’re a member, so they’re waiting for you as soon as you’re ready to visit us!

We’ve also extended your next billing date to accommodate the amount of time our theatres have been closed in order to ensure you’re able to enjoy all of your Movie Club benefits for the full length of your gift period. New credits will not be issued during this extension time, but all other Movie Club benefits will be available to you without charge. You can log in and visit Cinemark.com/movie-rewards to see your next scheduled billing date.

Example:

You joined February 9, 2020 using a 12-month gift. You have received 5 movie credits (1 each month) through June 9, 2020 and will continue to receive 1 credit each month through January 9, 2021 for a total of 12 movie credits.

Your first billing date (originally February 9, 2021) has been extended to May 9, 2021. No new credits will be issued between February and May 2021, but all other Movie Club benefits will be available to you free of charge.

Please reach out to our support center here if you require assistance or have any questions.

If you manually paused your membership on your own, the default pause period is 3 months. Your membership will automatically resume after those 3 months are over, and your payments will continue at that time.

You are free to manually resume your membership at any time by logging in to your account and visiting Cinemark.com/movie-rewards, where an option to “resume membership” is available under the ‘Manage Your Membership’ section.

Doing so will resume your monthly membership payments, reactivate your benefits, and your credits will continue to be issued as normal.

Please reach out to our support center here if you require assistance or have any questions.

We’ve extended the expiration date for all Cinemark Movie Rewards points to December 31, 2020, providing you the opportunity to redeem the rewards you earned.

Any unused, redeemed rewards have been extended through December 31, 2020 to allow you time to use your reward when you’re ready to come back to the movies.

Absolutely! If you redeemed your birthday reward within your account during the month of your birthday while our locations were closed, we’ve extended the expiration date through December 31, 2020 to make sure you’re able to celebrate with us as soon as you’re ready.
